Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti support Leonardo Nerazzurri coach Rafael Benitez to replace the retreat.
The Brazilian coach has become the leading candidate, following the departure of Benitz, which was announced officially on Thursday night.
"I know Leonardo's very nice. He is very smart and nice, "said 37-year-old player, as quoted from interstaweb.it.
"From the standpoint as a coach, he could offer more, he has the experience of many players during his career and beyond," added the Argentine defender.
Last season, Leonardo train one city rivals Inter, AC Milan and took him to the top three, but ultimately backed by mutual agreement following a poor relationship with the president Silvio Berlusconi.
Inter itself was in seventh position Serie A standings, 13 points adrift of Milan, but has a two-match postponed
