Internacional vice-president of football Luciano Davi has confirmed the club are interested in signing Inter Milan forward Diego Forlan.
The Uruguay international is being strongly linked with move away from the San Siro this summer after failing to make an impact in his debut season in Italy last term, netting just two goals in 18 Serie A appearances.
Inter Milan recently terminated the contract of Brazil international Lucio, and speculation has suggested that the club are considering releasing Forlan, who has just one year to run on his contract.
Davi admits that if the 33-year-old was to be made available on a free transfer then Internacional will attempt to lure the striker to the Beira-Rio.
''If that information is true, we'll be interested,'' Davi told Brazilian newspaper Lancenet.
''Internacional will have to be creative to know how to handle this kind of situation. If Forlan becomes a free agent, we will have to work something out regarding his wages.''
